The City of Palmerston backed and funded by the Australian Government and the Northern Territory Government recently opened a first-of-its-kind adventure playground and a multi-level water play-zone, at SWELL that offers the ultimate water and high-ropes fun for the young and young at heart. SWELL means Swimming, Wellness, Events, Leisure and Lifestyle.
This is Palmerston’s largest infrastructure project to date and is transforming the ageing Palmerston Swimming and Fitness Center into a state-of-the-art leisure hub in the city.
The adventure playground has a mix of water-based features and physical challenge elements. Adventurers will be harnessed in as they traverse the course maintaining safety in a fun environment.

The new Splash Pad supplied by PlayRope Group Pty Ltd and using Vortex Aquatic Structures International has a safety flooring using one of the Polysoft Systems.

SWELL’s commitment to inclusivity excels with its accessibility ramps into both pools ensuring comfort for everyone. The zero-depth splash and play space provides a safe entry for all abilities to enjoy the water, keep cool, and stay active. Amenities are fully accessible.
Early stages of construction began in August 2022 with the new facility opening at the end of 2023.
