I’m not good at predicting the future

I’m afraid I’m not very good at predicting the future.
When, in December 2019, my mother-in-law came upset with what she had just heard on TV about a virus in Wuhan (China) and the confinements that had been decreed there, I reassured her that she should not worry because that virus would not reach Europe. Brilliant prediction, the virus has already circled the world several times and generated more than 6,218,000 deaths to date.

At the beginning of February 2022, again my mother-in-law, after hearing the news, asked me worried if Russia would start the invasion of Ukraine and generate a war in Europe. My literal answer was “I do not believe that Putin will get into that mess and he is only trying to force an agreement so that Ukrania would not enter NATO and definitively keep the Crimean peninsula and Donbass region”.

You know the result, a new brilliant prediction on my part. We are in the middle of a war in Europe, of unknown results.

I am almost 63 years old and have contributed to the public pension system for more than 40 years, so legally I could retire from next June 2022.

All this background is intended to introduce my third brilliant prediction.

My third prediction was that, since I am still excited about professional challenges, motivated to prospect, contact and negotiate with customers and close deals and, in short, enjoying the world of business, marketing, technical support and sales, I would not retire before 65 and CONICA group would be my last professional destination.
I have also missed at least one part of this prediction. We have agreed that my consultancy agreement with CONICA will end this April 30th.

I want to thank all my colleagues at CONICA AG, CONICA Ltd. and Playtop for these amazing three years.

From May 1st, I will look for a new motivating job project or continue my activities as a freelance or self-employee to offer services on any of my areas of expertise. At least I want to make sure that the first part of my prediction is fulfilled. I do NOT want and I am not ready to retire, at least for the next 2-3 years.

Let me know if my services can be useful for your company. You can contribute to make part of my prediction succesful this time.

This blog started after my agreement with CONICA and I believe that it should also end with the agreement termination. Thanks to all my readers. I will continue for sure writing some contents on platforms as LinkedIn, Medium or another blog but it looks like RUBBERMAN last article should be this one. I might need to concentrate on searching and working on a new project.

I don’t even know if it will be a new professional project on another company or I’ll be a retired grandfather who takes care of his grandchildren, looks at the construction sites in the city, go dancing once per week, with his lovely wife and ride his road bike to train near everyday.

Warning: Do not offer me a job position or a service that has to do with predicting the future, because as you have seen at the previous lines it is not one of my skills. I’ve been traditionally better at trying to create new futures.

Goodbye, thanks for reading all these years and take care
