End of wetpour season in most of the Northern Hemisphere

In much of the Northern Hemisphere, temperatures below 5ºC become frequent most days and therefore the wetpour (pour-in-place) rubber surfacing season has come to an end and will not resume until next spring.

Some regions have a more moderate climate and maintain a continuous season in which they continue to carry out new installations or flooring repairs.

For the rest of the installers, for a few months, you will dedicate yourself to other highly variable activities depending on the type of company and depending on the countries, but there are several tasks that I advise you to find the time to carry out for the best start of the new season:

• Check the status of the main tools such as the mixer, the trowels, rollers, trays , screed rails and all other tools. Take the opportunity to do a thorough cleaning and repair, lubricate or replace those tools that have reached their end of life. Store them in adequate conditions so that they are in perfect state when you need them at the beginning of the new season.
• Check the expiration date or the status of the samples of chemical products accumulated in your warehouse and discard those that you will not be able to use due to either of these two possible causes of uselessness.
• Send those measuring instruments that require it according to your quality management system for calibration.
• Use the maximum time available to do training for you or your team, with the suppliers of your current materials, so that you can improve your efficiency and the quality of your jobs.
• Evaluate the warranty results of your work and if applicable analyse the causes of the problems that required a repair or rework.
• Try samples of products or alternative solutions so that you can know their properties, advantages and technical and economic drawbacks.

This year, because of the COVID, there have been many restrictions or even closures of activity that may have caused you a peak of pending work at certain times near the end of the season. Hopefully the next 2021 season will allow us to regain a certain normalcy and these preparatory activities will allow you to obtain better results.
