About retirement, a famous song and my next planned activities

I had my 65 years birthday party just a few days ago.

The letter from the Spanish Social Pension System explaining me that I can now happily retire with a modest but reasonable pension is still somewhere on my home office working table, but I had already decided that I would delay my retirement at least for one year and for sure no more than 2 years.

Although I’ve worked at around 15 companies during my 43 years of professional activity, there is a well-known phrase of which I do not know the author that says: “If you do what you like, you do not work a single day of your life”.

Fortunately I am in good health and feel younger than my real age, and I was pretty motivated with the project plans we currently have at my customers/partners: Krypton Chemical, Polysoft, PlaySafety and the latest one I had signed end of April with the high quality EPDM manufacturer Cikautxo.

There is an old, romantic and famous bolero song, composed in 1976 by Alfredo Gil. and performed by the Mexican group LOS PANCHOS, that says, translated to English, something as: “If you tell me come, I left everything”, and I experienced some variant of that.

I received a call from one of my best friends at the company of my life. The company with the best products worldwide in their business, the best professional team I met, the nicest factory I’ve ever seen and the most amazing IT systems to support your daily job. I’ve been working at this company, KOMPAN A/S for around a decade, at different positions, several contract schemes and a list of Countries.

I couldn’t reject it, I was really happy and immediately said yes to whatever they could need.

As a freelance, and continuing the services with my current partners I will do my best to temporary help and continue the successful path of the Flexotop™ Safety Surfacing project that we started back more than ten years ago.

Thanks to my Kompan friends, colleagues and the group management for the trust.

PD: For those of you who have asked me, if my wife, younger than me but who retired early a year ago, does not pressure me to retire, the answer is NO, she has always helped and supported me in my important decisions and knows me well, she prefers to keep me happy and busy. Do you think I should be worried?

Take care
